Wakeboarding Hall of Fame to Induct Six New Members in 2017

Orlando, FL September 2, 2017: The Wakeboarding Hall of Fame will induct six new members on September 7th at the Surf Expo trade show in Orlando, Florida. The wakeboarding Hall of Fame was established in 2014 to honor those that have made worthy contributions to wake sports and to preserve wakeboarding’s rich history. Past inductees include industry pioneers, contributors as well as outstanding athletes.

This year’s Wakeboarding Hall of Fame induction class includes some of the sport’s most influential and notable visionaries from wakeboarding’s earliest years before it was accepted as the popular action sport it is today. Each year the Wakeboarding Hall of Fame Induction Committee fields outside applications, offers it’s own suggestions and through a panel of veteran industry insiders confirms the prestigious class of inductees that will be bestowed the eternal honor of becoming a Wakeboarding Hall of Fame member.

The esteemed 2017 Wakeboarding Hall of Fame Inductees are as follows: Forging athletes Scott Byerly, Erich Schmaltz and Tara Hamilton Wynne, promotional superstar Sonja Scheffler Weinacker, and the prestigious Lifetime Achievement acknowledgements for Bill McCaffray and Pat McElhinney. The Wakeboarding Hall of Fame will permanently enshrine these new members into its hallowed manor with well known current members such as Herb O’Brien, Eric Perez, Jimmy Redmon and Darin Shapiro just to name a few,

The Wakeboarding Hall of Fame, recently awarded IRS non-profit charity status, is managed by its Board of Directors that includes wakeboarding veterans Mike Weddington, Shannon Best, Jeff Barton, Maeghan Major-Gale, Rich Goforth, Jim Emmons, Shaun Moore, Jason Buffalo, Chris Hawkins, Joe Pearson and Steven Fisher, who have all pledged to honor wakesport’s iconic history including its most influential participants and contributors and to preserve the legacy of wakeboarding for generations to come.
