For more than 25 years this next inductee has poured his heart and soul into both the sport and industry of wakeboarding. His path to the Hall stated in the watersports hotbed of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, where he became heralded as the“one to watch” as a 15 year old amateur with immense skill and even greater potential. He moved to Florida and took up residence with the Bonifay boys and his professional career began to take solid shape. Successful competition results began rolling in, earning the title of Pro Mens World Champion in 2002 and proving his career longevity with wakeboarding’s “Trick of the Year” in 2011 among many other career highlights. His vanguard riding style was supported by the people who he was riding and training with daily. They branded their group the “Pointless Posse”, high-level shredders that were all among the best in the world of competition. But even more impactfully, they made sure they brought style to their moves off the wake and they were on the front lines when it came to building and hitting the most complex, and often dangerous, rails and sliders ever seen still to this day. While still riding and competing he found himself getting behind the lens, capturing some amazing video edits of the world’s best riders hitting the most mind-blowing moves. He has considered his time in wakeboarding as “less of a job and more of life’s calling” and his friendly demeanor and mellow disposition has him one of the most beloved and revered riders of all time and he continues to contribute to the towed watersports market today. Welcome to the Wakesports Hall of Fame, Erik Ruck.
