Wiley is a well known name in the water sports industry. It all started with Paul Wiley. In the 1960s he started making water skis. His son, Darren Wiley learned the trade from him early on. He was one of the first to start experimenting with putting straps on surfboards to ride behind the boat. Darren for decades was involved in the ends and outs of the manufacturing and sales of water ski and wakeboard products. He owned the premiere ski shop in Seattle called Wiley’s Water Ski Shop. Darren made Wiley’s famous in the wakeboard industry with producing the high wrap wakeboard boot. This boot helped push forward the evolution in wakeboard technology and the capability of doing tricks that could not be done before. Wiley’s made boots for multiple wakeboard companies as well as sponsoring many pro riders with product. Over the 90s they produced 10s of thousands of Wiley’s wakeboard boots. There’s no doubt Darren Wiley influenced wakeboarding and will forever be remembered for that.
