Herbie Fletcher

Innovator

A longstanding member of the Surfing Hall of Fame and true surf royalty, our next inductee joins the ranks of those who’ve left an indelible mark on the wakeboarding world. An eclectic mixture of surfer/charger/dreamer saw him become an industry icon with his company Astrodeck and its dynamic industry contributions. From a leading surfboard traction company complete with a fashionable line of clothing to his legendary film company revered for making the most radical videos of their era, his initial connection to wake was making footbeds for bindings. This then piqued his creative process to engineer a binding with the most comfort and control, leading to the creation of BadAss Bindings. Industry reception was instantly strong, prompting him to apply his boardshaper’s skills and he hand shaped a line of BadAss boards. He was also eager to use his skills as a cinematographer and frequently left his home in Southern California to go film wakeboarding all over North America. His feature documentary film “Fire It Up” was embraced for the progressive content shown by the riders and Astodeck’s Uniquely artistic editing techniques and soundtrack supporting the film. We are proud to Induct this watersports Legend into the ranks of the Wakeboarding Hall of Fame, Mr. Herbie Fletcher!
